Yeah, I kind of wondered if the whole thing wasn't staged, "victim" and all - then again, maybe they just edited out Brown explaining it all, or maybe he's famous enough over there that they recognized him.

90% of all "mentalist" acts are 100% staged events using plants and the like. I've been a plant myself, and heard a fair amount of insider talk on mentalism. Chances are the only people who weren't in on the gag were the two friends.

I've heard similar things from friends of mine in the business, but it's still a neat video.
This is why I hate David Blaine/Chris Angel, actually - fool me all you want, I enjoy it, but get the spiritual/messianistic/cultish trappings the hell out of here.
