Bolts from above, yeah

Today we've got a new A Touching Display, focusing on some beloved one hit wonders of my youth, and a Soulseeking piece by me to boot, focusing one maybe my most well-loved song. I think it turned out particularly well.

Another good podcast, although it would be better if you fixed whatever is causing that high-pitched sound during your talking bits. A better mic, perhaps?

I bought New Order's 1981-1982 EP when it came out, and that version of "Temptation" is the one that does it for me. It's more brittle and Barney's still hiding his vocal. The slicker remake on Substance is fine, but I prefer the earlier one.

If you could find it in your heart, Mark, I would love to hear that version. My email address is above. I currently have three versions of "Temptation", and I'm always looking to hear more.

And as for the high pitched noise, yeah, I've tried a bunch of things. I was hoping most people wouldn't notice! Next time I have a little more money I'll try to get something better than my $10 mic.

I love the Soulseeking piece. Got me to listen to their best of again too.

Thanks!

I wish I still had this EP, but I wore it out a long time ago and then divested of my vinyl entirely when my turntable broke. There is a CD version of the EP, but it's rare and expensive. If you have a turntable and a decent used vinyl record store, seek this one out! I should buy another turntable and do the same. It was my introduction to New Order back in 1982.

Ah well, it's the thought that counts. We used to have a kind of decent vinyl store in town, but it was all used so the selection was kind of random. I was also 1 in 1982, so I don't feel too bad about missing that one!
