"Jimmy... Jimmy... shit is fucked"
One of my favourite small things about The Wire is seeing our heroes get, not just drunk, but paralytically, stinking, incapable drunk on such a regular basis. It's not really something I do (any more), but it still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I think the most unconvincing aspect of The Wire is all of the acto'rs terrible drunk acting. Without exception, none of them can act drunk at all, it's more pretending, and amateur dramatics/sixth form play pretending too. It's really jarring. But I guess you don't think that. To top it off, the guy who has to act more drunk more often than anyone else is the worst at it - McNulty!!

Maybe it's a Canadian thing, but I have definitely seen drunk guys who look/act like McNulty. But I think Bunk does a better job, and especially Norris (played by a real dtective, I believe, as is Mello): "Wake up and die proper, you cunts."
