McDonalds and pornography
I certainly don't agree with all (or even most) of her conclusions, but Mary Eberstadt's definitely on to something in this essay about the way moral taboos and attitudes about food and sex have kind of switched places in the modern Western world. It's worth thinking about.

I think that things haven't changed as far as it's suggesting yet, because certainly the food attitudes they mention are not remotely as widely spread as the sexual ones were, but I did identify a fair bit with the hypothetical modern person.

Me too. I also disagree with the argument she's making about how less-regulated sex is intrinsically as harmful as less-regulated food.
