Female emo?

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a big fan of emo (and like everyone else who doesn't like a genre, anything I do like which might fall into that category I rationalize as "not really being emo"), but Jonathan's new post on this band Paramore (emo with a 17-year-old female singer) intrigues me. Plus, a couple more digs at Jessica Hopper and inexplicable Fall Out Boy love! It's not the screwed & chopped madness I normally stop by there for, but I'll gladly take it.

I was sincerely hoping that the phrases "Jessica Hopper" and "inexplicable Fall Out Boy love" were related somehow.

oh well.

Ooh, I hadn't thought of that, but it would have been awesome. Jonathan, if you read this, you must work the two together somehow.

yes, yes. we need some dirt like that on hopper.

Oh come on, I think her own writing is plenty incriminating enough.

true. but inexplicable fall out boy love is just too damn good.

Hey Ian, thanks for the shout out. I'm afraid I can't help you with any Hopper-Fall Out Boy love... apparently she doesn't like emo "ever since it was stripped of its politics." yeah, i don't get it. She does love The Promise Ring though, so, possibly the only reason she doesn't love Fall Out Boy is that she was born ten years too early.
Oh, and as for your lack of emo love - you like My Chemical Romance, right? There's still hope for you! Ha, naw, I can see Fall Out Boy only appealing to fans of the genre, but the track I put up... I dunno, I think it crosses over. The way he sings "what are you waiting for, kiss her, kiss her!" is so nervously excited that it sounds exactly like that tense/happy feeling leading up to the first time you kiss that girl you're after.
Or maybe I'm nuts - that's a solid possibility too.

Oh right, that would make sense in terms of her old emo essay. Which is why finding out she loves Fall Out Boy would be awesome, I suppose.

I haven't listened to the track you posted yet, but I will - the line you mention reminds me of Pulp's "The Birds In Your Garden", which I love, so maybe there's hope for this song.

And My Chemical Romance aren't emo. Because I like them, that's why (katie, shush).
