Ends that cannot be realized through means that can never be justified

A rather ringing repudiation of the idea of small government governments over at Washington Monthly. Nice to see someone put it so bluntly.

Hey, thanks for this link - that's a great article. Solidly argued, lucid criticism of Bush and conservatism without getting sidetracked by hyperbole or trivialities. Nice.

I agree, but I also like that the writer doesn't feel the need to argue both sides; he clearly has an axe to grind, he clearly feels conservatism is incorrect down to its most fundamental principles (something I happen to agree with), and he just goes and argues for that, clearly and forcefully. You don't see enough of that these days.
